Doyle Sailmakers based in Marblehead, Massachusetts, together with Vela 2000 of Mallorca, Spain have announced the formation of Doyle SuperYacht Group to focus exclusively on the engineering, design, material development and servicing of sails for yachts 23m and larger.
Of the numerous yachts currently under contract with Doyle Sailmakers are three of the largest in the world: the 75m Mirabella V, a new Perini Navi 64m and the 87m Dynarig.
Vela 2000, now trading as Doyle Vela SuperYacht, was originally founded by Spike Thompson and Patrick Whetter, as a service facility, but has a sailmaking resume that now includes numerous Jongert, Dubois and Holland designs, including the Dubois 53m Salperton, recently launched in New Zealand, and the Dubois 43m African Queen.
The new joint company is currently building a new 2,400 sq m custom sail loft in Mallorca for the construction and servicing of SuperYacht sails. The Doyle SuperYacht Group will be supported by the worldwide Doyle Sailmaking team.
The expertise of Florence Legrand, Doyle France; Phil Bennett, Doyle England; Francesco Valenza, Doyle Italy; and Bob Fraser, Doyle Fraser Sails, Australia, will form the backbone of this team. Doyle Fraser Sails is the creator of D4 sails, now being employed for performance oriented SuperYacht sails.
Ocean Safety SL of Palma de Mallorca are very pleased to announce that, concurrent with the management buy-out that took place in Ocean Safety Ltd of Southampton, a similar management buy-out has occurred.
Whilst the two Companies will continue to work closely as a family. Ocean Safety SL will distribute the exclusive products of Ocean Safety Ltd in Spain but they are now completely financially independent.
David Miller continues in the role of Managing Director and Paddy Pigden is now appointed Sales Director.
