Dear John.
Saw the letter from Jim Linderman on your website today.
Jim was right of course, in hindsight I should have dropped NautiPaints after the 3 months contractual period; boy do I wish I could see into the future. After promises of increased manpower and attention to detail had worn out all the other paint contractors were booked up and could not take over the Job- plus a new contractor certainly wouldnīt guarantee work done over NautiPaintsī so they would have needed to start from the beginning which was another time delay I couldnīt afford.
Knowing what I know now it would have been better to stop the job and return to the US for completion but thatīs a pretty serious move when your vessel is covered with construction piping and plastic and no doors and windows.
The only thing I can hope to achieve now is to save some other poor bastard from the same miserable experience I had.
NautiPaints, is not equipped in any degree to paint Megayachts. They have not the management or the labour and most definitely not the work ethic to produce the kind of quality we hope to achieve on our vessels.
I am glad my first letter got the response it did even if it made me look like a fool for continuing with NautiPaints for 9 months, believe me I feel it.
Regards Greg.
MY Camelot
Dear John,
We at Solaris are beginning to feel neglected by you folks at īThe Islanderī.
Your January edition failed to acknowledge that Solaris Mediterranean Sea School of Andratx was well represented in the RYA Schools section of the London Boat Show, working hard to increase both public awareness of Mallorca and of course our market share of would be boating students.
Your February edition, in dealing with the issue of fraudulent certificates, neglected to list us as one of the authorised RYA Training Centres in the Balearics. Not only are we a Royal Yachting Association Training centre, we are of course the best available.
Iīm sure that youīll put the record straight in the next edition.
Regards,
Eric Murray
Chief Instructor
Solaris Mediterranean Sea School, Andratx
Edīs note: My apologies Eric but although Solaris is indeed listed as an RYA approved school itīs listed on the official RYA website (from which I took the list) as being in the UK and not here.
As regards presence at the London show I also have to apologise to Mallorca Sea School who Iīve been told were also there flying the Mallorca flag despite the lack of any assistance from the local Government.
Lastly, naturally I cannot comment on your claim to being the ībest availableī but perhaps some of your local competitors may want to comment!
