NEW EU CITIZENS DEPARTMENT

Kate Mentink has been named as head of the new European citizens department, in a meeting held by Balearics Minister of Immigration Encarnacion Pastor.

The minister was accompanied by her team at the meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Balearic Islands, to present the new department formed for citizens of the European union.
Recently the Government approved the creation of this new department in the ministry of Immigration and Cooperation, which seeks to respond to the needs of the European citizens residing in the Balearics.
Previously members of the diplomatic corps had explained to Pastor and her team, the special requirements and circumstances of the EU citizens living on the islands.
With the appointment of Kate Mentink, Pastor has gone one step further in the service offered by the Balearic Government to the European citizens who have chosen to reside here, thus getting the department underway, in order to offer an information service and meet the needs of this growing group of residents.

Kate told The Islander before we went to press, “a multi lingual team is being put together as we speak, with dedicated phone /fax lines, & e.mail addresses.
Another announcement will be made later in September giving all the details of how to contact the new department”.
