As the days are lengthening and Spring is not far away, we have started to look for eating places where you can choose an outside table, and preferably near the water, because food always seems to taste better, when you are “al fresco” and by the sea!
This is particularly true if you are partial to fish and sea food, and we found the “Marisqueria El Faro” at the soon to be extended Port Adriano marina in El Toro, to have all the elements needed for an enjoyable and relaxing meal, with fresh sea food (as their name implies) being the speciality of the house.
Not only do they present you with a very tempting fresh sea food selection to choose from, at your table before you order, but they also bring around a mouth watering selection of home made desserts to tempt you afterwards!
I had a perfectly grilled John Dory fish with fresh vegetables, and the “Dutch bird indoors” who was more in a meat eating mood, tried the fillet steak in roquefort sauce, which she said was excellent.
We found the vino “El Faro” tinto to be very good at €9.50 a bottle, and after succumbing to the yummy cheesecake, I relaxed with a cigar and a“Suau” local brandy to accompany my cortado.
Its a hard life, but somebody has to do it - why not give it a go?
