THE ISLANDER & GACETA NAUTICA
THE ISLANDER AND GACETA NAUTICA
TALKING YACHTING IN THE BALEARICS - TOGETHER!

The management of the two leading publications specifically covering yachting in The Balearic Islands are pleased to announce their intentions to work in a strategic co-operation from July 2009. Initially each will contribute a monthly information exchange / opinion column to the other, with plans to expand the content in future, and to develop other initiatives according to market and readership demands and opportunities.
The Islander which is in its 13th year has always been aimed at the English speaking sector of the boating market, whilst Gaceta Nautica is now in its 9th year of reaching the Spanish speaking Balearic yachting community.
In a joint statement the editors of the two publications Peter Franklin (TI) and Elena Pipo (GN) said; " We are both excited about the prospects of starting a collaboration which has such tangible benefits for our readers, advertisers and employees. Since we first started to discuss the possibilities a few months ago it  has been very obvious that we can achieve a lot by working together.  The fact is, that we each publish in different languages with our own specialities and sources in terms of editorial content. This means that in the future we can both reach out to a wider readership across a broader range of subjects, thus comprehensively covering the increasingly diversified world of leisure yachting and water sports. We will also be able to offer consolidated advertising rates to marine service providers wishing to gain maximum targeted bi-lingual penetration into the substantial Balearics yachting market."
The two editors also stressed that this is a practical working arrangement, and not a merger or a take over of any kind. Both publications will be keeping their well established print formats and individual identities.
